Mindfulness at Dartmouth

The Mindful Dartmouth Initiative (MDI) is an intentional movement across the entire Dartmouth ecosystem committed to the centering of evidence-based mindfulness and contemplative practices as foundational to whole person development and wellbeing.

Our goal is to create and sustain a campus culture of mindful resilience, authentic connection, and compassionate leadership to best prepare the lifelong learners of Dartmouth.

WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS

The Mindful Dartmouth Initiative offers a wide range of interactive and educational opportunities for students, staff, faculty, and alumni.

Mindfulness is...

Being Present

Paying attention to what is happening moment-to-moment.

Kind Curiosity

Bringing a sense of kind interest to your experience and the world around you, no matter what how it is.

Accepting

Approaching life with a sense of acceptance and simply observing things as they are.

Rooted in Spiritual Traditions around the World*: Mindfulness-based practices can be found as an accompanying tradition in many religions and philosophies around the world, although one need not subscribe to any one belief system in order to practice mindfulness.

*Mindful Dartmouth offers various pathways to practice, including both secular and non-secular options.  Individuals are welcome to experience mindfulness in the way that connects most deeply themselves.
