Mission Statement
The Phi Alpha Theta Chapter at Dartmouth College aims to offer dedicated history students co-curricular academic and professional resources to complement their courses of study, as well as to provide an additional forum to engage with the discipline. Chapter members will have the opportunity to engage in a vibrant intellectual community through offerings such as speaker events, academic resources, research workshops, and alumni networking. The Phi Alpha Theta community will bring history from outside of the classroom into a space that enables free intellectual exchange and interpersonal connection. Finally, the Chapter will frame the study of history by demonstrating not only the breath of research fields, but also the diversity of approaches to historiographical study and potential applications after graduation.
Membership
Official applications for membership are released at the end of each winter term and can be found at the bottom of this page during the application cycle. The official induction into Phi Alpha Theta occurs annually during the spring term. Membership in Phi Alpha Theta is open to anyone who has taken four or more Dartmouth History courses and has maintained a GPA of at least 3.1 in History and an overall GPA of 3.0.
