Mummy Beads & Amulet

A string of blue beads, some larger or darker than others, with a large amulet tied to the end with string.

This string of glazed ceramic beads came from the netting on a mummy wrapping from the Ptolemaic period of Ancient Egypt, somewhere between 332 BCE and 476 CE.

The amulet strung on the chain depicts Osiris, the god of the dead. It is almost certain that this amulet was added much later, by an 19th-century art dealer.
