Our Speakers:

Qian Zhang ’13

Qian is Chief of Staff at a consumer packaged goods company. As an international student at Dartmouth, she was a Math and Econ double major. Qian just graduated from Harvard Business School and loves entrepreneurship.

Stella Safari ’13

Stella has spent the last two years running her own fashion clothing, which produces African inspired clothing from her home country of the Congo. Stella was a Math and WGSS double major, a venture for America fellow, and has extensive experience working with start-ups.

Glynnis Millhouse ’12

Glynnis is currently a graduate student at Stanford, where she is working towards an MBA and a Masters in Computer Science. Glynnis was a Math and Econ double major before spending the past eight years working in the tech industry as a product manager in Silicon Valley.

Kate Royce ’19

Kate is spending her gap year teaching before beginning classes at Harvard Law School next year. At Dartmouth, Kate was a research assistant in the Fu lab and even completed an honors thesis related to this work!

Mary versa Clemens-Sewall ’20

Mary Versa just graduated from Dartmouth and is a Data Scientist at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. Mary Versa made a conscious choice not to pursue a PhD directly out of undergrad and is learning a lot of software development on the job!

We’ll be providing insight from upperclassmen on classes and professors as well as answering live questions anyone may have!

 Hi everyone! We’re AWM, a social/support space for self identifying womxn who are interested in math here at Dartmouth. You do NOT have to be a math major to join!Traditionally, we hold bi-weekly study sessions and events such as game nights, guest speakers, and research mixers. This fall will undoubtedly look different, but we have some great events on the horizon. Look out for events like our spotlight on womxn series with guest speakers, an alumni panel about careers outside of academia, a winter course election party, reflections with Roxy about the grad school application process, and more!

Join the Association for Womxn in Math, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Women in Computer Science, National Society of Black Engineers, and American Indian Science and Engineering Society for apple picking at Riverview Farms this Saturday, Oct. 19th, 2019 (time TBD)!

Welcome to Dartmouth, ’23s!

To those of you interested in joining or learning more about the Association for Womxn in Mathematics, you’re in the right place!

We will have our first meeting on Wednesday, September 18th at 7:30 PM. Here you will have a chance to meet our executive board, suggest programming ideas for the term (social, academic, political, etc. ideas are all welcome), eat great snacks (if you have a specific snack that you’d like to see at the meeting, fill out this Google Form), and be around other self-identifying womxn (and allies) that enjoy mathematics!

Elections and End-of-Term Brunch

Happy week 9!

As this term comes to an end, the Association for Womxn in Mathematics will be having elections for 2019-2020. We invite all those interested in forming part of the Executive Board to apply by filling out the self-nomination form on this link: https://forms.gle/aBDztuXJYEEKReYW9 . Under the “Brief Platform” section, please write a brief paragraph outlining programming you want to see/organize and your vision and goals for the organization. A voting form will be sent out by Wednesday, May 29th, and voting will end on Friday, May 31st, at 11:59PM.

Election results will be announced during our End-of-Term Brunch on Saturday, 12-1:30PM. Location TBD, but it will likely be Kemeny Courtyard (weather permitting) and catered by Lou’s.  Hope to see you there!

Other news: 

We will be partnering with the Student and Presidential Committee on Sexual Assault (SPCSA) for their termly Round Table event–an open discussion where students can voice feedback or ask questions about anything related to sexual violence on campus. They then relay a summary of the discussion to administration members to ensure they hear student voices on this issue.

The Round Table will be taking place on Monday, May 13th at Kemeny 006 from 6:30-7:30 pm. Any students who can’t attend can also send in their thoughts via this form: https://forms.gle/Nc5RbDupys1NoFu37. More information on this event can be found in the attached flyer: Small Talk (2)!
