Open Positions

We are actively looking for motivated postdoctoral scholars, graduate and undergraduate students. Please see below for more details. If interested, please reach out directly to Dr. Indrani Bhattacharya at Indrani.Bhattacharya@dartmouth.edu.

Postdoctoral Scholar

The research team of Dr. Indrani Bhattacharya in the Department of Biomedical Data Science and the Center for Precision Health and Artificial Intelligence (CPHAI) at Dartmouth College is seeking a motivated and creative postdoctoral scholar with strong computational background in image processing and machine learning. The individual who fills this position will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team of computer scientists, engineers, clinicians, biostatisticians, and trainees. Projects will focus on developing medical image analysis and multimodal machine learning algorithms to help clinicians in early disease detection, risk-stratification, treatment planning, and outcome prediction. Please see job posting below for more details.

PhD students

The research team of Dr. Indrani Bhattacharya in the Department of Biomedical Data Science and the Center for Precision Health and Artificial Intelligence (CPHAI) at Dartmouth College is currently accepting PhD rotation students in the QBS PhD program at Dartmouth. Interested students can reach out to Indrani.Bhattacharya@dartmouth.edu.

If you are interested in pursuing a PhD in machine learning and medical image analysis at Dartmouth, we encourage you to formally apply to the PhD program in Quantitative Biomedical Sciences (QBS) at Dartmouth.

Undergraduate and Master's Students

We are looking for motivated undergraduate and master's students at Dartmouth interested in research at the intersection of machine learning, computer vision, and medicine. Responsibilities will include:

  1. analyzing medical images and clinical data,
  2. training and validating advanced machine learning methods using biomedical data,
  3. collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to refine project goals and methods,
  4. participating in team research meetings, and presenting research progress and findings,
  5. participating in team journal clubs to learn about recent advances in deep learning for medicine, and medical image analysis methods,
  6. dissemination of research results through peer-reviewed publications in top-tier journals and conference proceedings.

Desired qualifications include:

  1. Currently pursuing an undergraduate or master's degree at Dartmouth in computer science, data science, electrical engineering, quantitative biomedical sciences, or a related field.
  2. Passionate about exploring interdisciplinary research at the intersection of computer science and medicine, and willing to learn and grow.
  3. Strong programming skills in Python, including experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., Pytorch, Tensorflow).
  4. Familiarity with machine learning, deep learning, image analysis, and/or computer vision is a plus.

We understand that not all candidates will have all the desired qualifications. We strongly encourage you to apply if you are passionate about research at the intersection of computer science and medicine, and are willing to learn and grow, even if you do not fulfill all the requirements. Highly motivated undergraduate students in engineering or computer science may have the potential to continue this work as part of an undergraduate thesis.
