Well, another sprint of a term nearly in the bag. 22W classes are wrapping up, finals are impending, and still the sun does not yet shine bright enough to frighten away the white stuff. Despite the late-winter slump, twice-weekly team spins and dinners have kept the wheels turning. The DCT had an outstanding revival of winter training and team involvement. Many new faces joined this term! Perhaps because of the consistent post-spin Cinnamon Toast Crunch. In between the intense spin sessions, our members found time in their busy schedules to hop on the indoor trainer and log some easy saddle time. We also, of course, held our annual snow crit. Practicing cornering, teamwork, and on-the-bike fueling is as important as ever in the winter.

Speaking of lots of riding, in week 7 the DCT embarked on a fundraising challenge to ride the Tour De France in a mere 10 days, over twice as fast as the pros (kinda). The team smashed the goal of 2200 miles, ending up completing 3,000 miles in 10 days! Not only that, thanks to our 🤩 wonderful 🤩 supporters, alumni, friends, and the club sports office, we were able to meet every single goal set for us, raising over $21,000 for our spring race season! Thank you to all our supporters – we will keep you updated on our antics, racing, and adventures!

Speaking of adventures, we have a big one coming up… Spring Break!!! After a two-year hiatus, the college has deemed it safe enough to travel, and so the team will be making a comeback on the slopes of Mt. Mitchell. As per usual, there will be lots of ~ not doing homework ~, and even more riding of bikes. The plan is to drive down the last day of finals, ride until we can’t move, race twice, and then drive back and arrive the night before classes start. Then just a few days of classes before road season starts the next weekend!

Speaking of road season, the DCT in once again hosting L’Enfer du Nord with Middlebury, April 16-17th. Starring: The Frat Row Crit and The Rip Road ITT(Individual Time Trial). Middlebury will be hosting a road race and a TTT (Team Time Trial). Get ready for some bike racing action coming to Dartmouth’s campus! Besides our home race, the DCT will be showing up in force every weekend in April, and there will be a weekly recap of the racing, along with photos.

Stay tuned for the spring race season and check the race calendar if you want to watch us race.
