Congratulations to Rachel on a successful defense of her undergraduate thesis! The amazing thesis-themed cake was made by her graduate student mentor Michelle Clay. Rachel is now pursuing her PhD at the University of Washington in Seattle.

We aim to continue collaboration between our lab and the Greene Lab at Penn to use machine learning to better understand and, in the future, predict bacterial transcriptomes.

The Dartmouth School of Graduate and Advanced studies is now named the Frank J. Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies! 

Congratulations on getting an F31 fellowship to study the evolution of Candida lusitaniae during chronic lung infections and the relationship to drug resistance. 

Both passed their qualifier exam this week and generated a lot of great ideas for their projects in the process! 

 

 

Congratulations to Jeff for the recent defense of his thesis on the Candida albicans response to low pH and the role of Mediator in the regulation of morphology! It was a great day and we enjoyed the visit from Jamie Konopka, Jeff’s outside examiner. 

 

For now being post-qualifier exam! On to the fun part. 

An exciting approach for the genetic manipulation of Candida lusitaniae, Candida auris, and Candida glabrata with ribonucleoprotein complexes (RNPs) published by Elora Demers, Nora Grahl and Alex Crocker.

 

An exciting new paper on an improved method  (eADAGE) for the unsupervised extraction of stable expression signatures by P. aeruginosa and its use to understand the effects of different media on Pseudomonas physiology performed as a collaboration between Jie Tan (Greene Lab) and Georgia Doing with important contributions from Kim Lewis! Lab members off to many meetings including ASM (Jeff Hollomon and Deb) where we reconnected with former lab member Annie Chen who is now doing great things as a graduate student at Penn.  Colleen when to BBM and Georgia went to SGIM. Elora Demers is soon off to Molecular Mycology in Woods Hole.
