Dear Student,
I have received a report from Dartmouth Breathing Services that you breathed 2 gallons of air over the allotted 2,000 gallons per day without paying for it on or about May 19, 2023. As you are likely aware, students are expected to abide by the Dartmouth Community Standards of Conduct, including Standard II that in part states: “Misappropriation (theft or unauthorized use) of… College property is prohibited.”
Breathing Services provides essential services for the Dartmouth community. Air breathed without paying, whether intentionally or accidentally, impacts our ability to keep providing it. Breathing extra air is disrespectful to the members of our community who work in breathing facilities providing these essential services.
You have been issued a College Warning that will be entered on your record in the Undergraduate Dean’s Office and a copy of this letter will be placed in your file. When asked in the future if you have been subject to disciplinary action at Dartmouth, you may respond that you have not. This incident may be considered in any proceeding resulting from further misconduct.
If you are experiencing issues regarding limited funds for air, respectfully, suck it up. Well, not literally.
Student, I wish you well as you continue this term.
Sincerely,
Wendy O’Hare
Hearing Officer
