Museum Club: Career Help for Students in the Arts

Amidst the challenges of the pandemic and remote learning, the Hood’s Museum Club members looked for unique ways to connect students to the arts. After successfully coordinating three “Alumni in the Arts” panel discussions—during which Dartmouth alumni talked about their paths in art-related careers—Museum Club members wanted to create more career-related resources for students. We felt creating these resources was especially important because launching and navigating a career in the arts is not discussed enough.

During spring 2021, a handful of Museum Club members met weekly to form the “Alumni in the Arts: Career Resource Committee.” This committee compiled relevant information for students who are in various stages of a job, internship, or fellowship search. The infographics (linked and pictured below) take on three steps: resume and cover letter writing, connecting with alumni for informational interviews, and locating art and design-related grants or fellowships.

Supplying short bursts of information, we hope the infographics will help to make what can be an overwhelming and confusing process more accessible. To visit any of the pages mentioned, simply click on the hyperlinks within the documents (linked below)!
