2018 Award Announced

Neukom Institute Literary Arts Award for Playwriting Announced

We are more than pleased that in this first year we received fifty-five entries of high quality, comprising a broad spectrum of creative dramatic responses to the prompt “What does it mean to be human in a computerized world?”

We are delighted to announce, Choices People Make, by Jessica Andrewartha, winner of the 2018 Neukom Institute Literary Arts Award for Playwriting.

This award comes with a $5000 honorarium as well as assistance with the play’s development in the form of a reading with VoxFest at Dartmouth College in July of 2018 and a second staged reading at the New Works Now Festival at Northern Stage in White River Junction, VT, in January 2019. In preparation for these readings Ms. Andrewartha, will be working with VoxFest Director Kate Mulley and Northern Stage Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne.  All of this is a collaboration with Dartmouth’s Department of Theater, Professor Laura Edmondson (Chair of Dartmouth’s Department of Theater) and Professor of Theater Jamie Horton who have helped guide the overall form of the Award.
