Club Philosophy
Founded in 2017, Dartmouth Sports Analytics (DSA) is a student-run organization purposed with providing students exposure to and experience with sports analytic concepts, methodologies, and research. This group was created with the expressed idea of establishing a community specifically organized for students to share with each other what papers they are currently reading, what research they are currently conducting, and what posts they are currently writing in regards to sports analytics. This group is also organized to provide a means by which students can connect with each other in order to work together on potential sports analytic research projects and by which students can explore any sports analytic questions in which they might have interest. Students will have the opportunity to publish their own work and the opportunity to hear from and connect with professionals in the sports analytics industry.
Dartmouth Sports Analytics intends to equip members with necessary skills for success in the modern world. It is our hope that every member will leave this club with a strong base in statistics as well as coding and scraping abilities that, preparing them for the multifaceted challenges they will face in their professional careers.
About our Research
All of our research is student-initiated. Students discuss potential research projects during our meetings. Peers provide feedback and advice on the topic and sometimes offer to partner up with someone else interested in the topic. For students who might not have enough technical skills to complete their project, other DSA members are always available to help.
