How You Can Support 支援方法

There are multiple ways for users to support the “Springboard Japan” project:

(1) For graduate students and early career researchers

Please consider participating in our translation projects for Springboard Japan Translates. In exchange, not only will you be compensated for your time ($200-500/piece, depending on length), but you will also receive hands-on feedback to improve your linguistic skills, acquire new knowledge through the content of the article/book review, hone your skills to conduct online research, and receive mentorship from senior scholars in Japan Studies. Of course, you will be credited in our forum as a translator/co-translator, which is a great CV builder.

(1) 大学院生・若手研究者の方々

日本研究分野に所属する大学院生・若手研究者の中で、『スプリングボード・ジャパン・トランスレイツ』に所収するための論文・書評の翻訳を手伝ってくださる方を募集します (日⇔英、韓→日、中→日)。文章の長さに応じて、２００～５００ドルの謝礼が支払われます。そのほかの特典は、翻訳への細かい添削、さまざまなオンライン資料の使い方の指導、キャリアアドバイスなどが受けられることです。翻訳した文書の内容も、新しい知識になります。翻訳協力者の方々は、『スプリングボード・ジャパン・トランスレイツ』の中で翻訳者・共訳者としてのクレジットが出ますので、履歴書に業績として記載することも、もちろん可能です。

(2) For established scholars

Please consider volunteering time as a translator or a mentor for Springboard Japan Translates. As a mentor, you will be asked to work with a graduate student/early career researcher who performs translation, which normally takes 2-3 rounds of revisions. This may also involve teaching them how to find the right information necessary to conduct accurate translation. Your mentees will transmit the knowledge they inherited from you to their peers and kōhai. This is how we can strengthen our field together. Your generosity, rich experiences, and wisdom will be greatly appreciated. It is safe to say that for many of you, translating the piece yourself is probably less time-consuming than teaching someone how to do so, in which case, we will also appreciate your translation.

(2) 中堅・ベテラン研究者の方々

『スプリングボード・ジャパン・トランスレイツ』に所収される翻訳、または翻訳指導を担当してくださる研究者の方々を歓迎します。翻訳指導の内容は、大学院生・若手研究者の翻訳の添削 (たいてい２～３回必要です) と翻訳作業に必要な資料収集の手伝いです。中堅・ベテラン研究者の方々が長年培った経験や知識は、大学院生・若手研究者を通して、さらに彼らの仲間や後輩にも伝授されます。私たち一人一人が、できることをできる範囲で行うことにより、日本研究分野を強くしていくことができるのです。もちろん、ベテラン研究者の手による翻訳を『スプリングボード・ジャパン・トランスレイツ』に所収させていただくことも可能です。

(3) For editors of journals

Please allow us to translate articles and book reviews published in your medium, free of charge. We will link the original pieces as well as your homepage as a token of appreciation.

研究論文や書評の翻訳を『スプリングボード・ジャパン・トランスレイツ』に無料で掲載させてくださる学術雑誌を歓迎します。論文・書評の原文と学術雑誌のホームページを当フォーラムに掲載させていただきます。

(4) For everyone
