Postdoc

Abhishek Singh

I am a Research Associate-B from India with a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Uttar Pradesh Technical University, India, a master’s from IIT Roorkee, India in Industrial Metallurgy, and a Ph.D. from IIT Bombay, India in Metallurgical Engineering. With over three years of post-Ph.D. experience, I’ve served as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Professor at Sunchon National University, South Korea. My expertise lies in materials characterization, finite element analysis, and crystal plasticity modeling.

Graduate Students

Huan Zhao

I am a PhD candidate from Los Angeles, California. I received my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at University of California Davis and my M.S. in Biomedical Engineering at University of Southern California. My research focuses on multi-physics finite element modeling and experimental investigation of piezoelectric materials and polymer-derived ceramics, design of metamaterial architectures, and additive manufacturing.

Xiangbei Liu

Xiangbei is from Dalian, China. She earned her B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dalian University of Technology and her M.S. degree from the University of California, San Diego. She also spent her final undergraduate year studying at the University of California, Irvine. Her primary research focuses on implementing machine learning with metamaterial design. She loves reading and swimming in her free time.

Ya Tang

Ya Tang

Ya Tang holds an M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Sun-yat Sen University. His research focuses on 3D printing, multifunctional materials design, high thermoelectric and piezoelectric materials/devices design, modeling, and fabrication. In his free time, he likes Hiking and Fishing.

Undergraduate Students

Andrew Kim

Andrew is a ’25 from Camas, WA, majoring in Biomedical Engineering.

Jace Henry

I am a Dartmouth ‘24 from Fairbanks, Alaska pursuing the BA and BE in Mechanical Engineering. I am passionate about the application of mechanical engineering and materials science in the aerospace industry. Outside of living at Thayer, I spend the rest of my time being a member of the Dartmouth football team and enjoy outdoor activities like snowmobiling.

Joseph Jeon

I am a Dartmouth ’24 from Fairfield, Connecticut pursuing a BA and BE in mechanical engineering alongside a major in studio art. I am particularly interested in materials, mechanics and CAD modeling. When I’m not at Thayer and BVAC, I can be found being active playing spikeball or squash or being a part of Christian community on campus.

Anisia Tiplea

I am a Dartmouth ‘24 from Brașov, Romania, majoring in Engineering Sciences and minoring in French. I am interested in biomedical engineering, specifically prosthetic design, materials science, and medical devices. On campus, I work as an RWIT tutor and a social media manager for the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies department. In my free time, I do design and marketing for Spare Rib, and I also enjoy reading and playing music.
