If you are a researcher in the life sciences, there are good reasons to complement your MEDLINE search with a Web of Science search. First, Web of Science offers wider coverage of the literature in terms of subject areas, time (from 1900 to present) and type of literature (journal articles, meeting abstracts, patents and more). Second, Web of Science has some features not found in MEDLINE. For instance, you can do citation searching (which articles cited a particular article) and use the analyze tool to categorize your results by author, institution, year and more. This workshop will provide you with an overview of Web of Science, including tips and techniques for effectively searching this multidisciplinary database.
