Saturday, November 16 – Sustainable Hanover Transportation Expo: Need a new car? Interested in improving the fuel efficiency of your travel? Attend the Sustainable Hanover Transportation Expo, a “car & bike petting zoo.” From an all electric Tesla or Volt to a Toyota Highlander Hybrid, a variety of efficient family cars will be on display. Also, learn about alternative transportation options – the newest models in commuter bikes, carpooling using Zimride, carsharing with Zipcar, how to ride Advance Transit, Dartmouth Coach and other intercity buses and new networks of paths in Hanover. Presentations, displays and plenty of opportunity to learn from friends and neighbors. Saturday, November 16 from 9am – 12 noon at the Richard Black Community Center, Lebanon Street, Hanover.

A Plan NH Design Team is coming to Hanover to help sort out the many issues associated with the West Wheelock Corridor. The Hanover Affordable Housing Commission and Hanover Planning Board recognize underutilized residential land area close to the downtown, a prominent gateway to our Main Street commercial district and the Dartmouth College campus, challenging topography, and the need to accommodate high traffic volumes with pedestrian safety. What do you think?
There will be two public input sessions on Friday, November 8 at the Parish Hall, St. Thomas Church at 9 West Wheelock Street. The sessions are scheduled from 3-4:30 PM and 6-7:30 PM. The Design Team’s final presentation will be held at the Parish Hall on Saturday, November 9 from 3:30- 4:30 PM.
The Hanover Planning Board is meeting with neighborhoods all over town to discuss resident and landowner desires for the future of their neighborhood. The Hanover Planning Board enthusiastically supports the assistance that could be provided by a community charrette team. The neighborhood planning parties are a first step toward revision of our 2003 Master Plan. A charrette format was successfully used to jump start our work on revising the zoning in our downtown. Based on that experience, we believe a charrette is a good way to involve the variety of stakeholder interests in developing a vision for the corridor and exploring how increased density could be introduced to the area.

New Zip Car at Whittemore Circle
We are excited to share that Dartmouth has added a new Zip Car to its collection. The Toyota Prius can be found in front of Whittemore Hall. Check for availability and other details here.
How old is the building you live in?
At Dartmouth we have a pretty good idea about when our approximately 150 buildings on the core campus were built. We can do some cool coloring stuff with GIS too, but imagine coloring the buildings of a whole country!
The Waag Society a institute for art, science and technology, that develops creative technology for social innovation did that for the 9,866,539 buildings in the Netherlands, shaded according to year of construction!
Super Hero Transit Ring
Forget your metro pass or ‘Charlie Card’? MIT students have developed an open “Sesame Ring,” a very cool example of wearable technology. It’s not bad looking either.
Imagine your very own Dartmouth Super Hero Ring that could be used to check out a book at Baker, swipe at the Fitness Center or grab a coffee at Collis. Amazing!

Dartmouth Green Commute Website Launched!
Hanover, Tuesday July 2nd 2013– Following our recent workplace award for our comprehensive transportation program, Dartmouth is pleased to announce a brand new one-stop-for-all transportation options website, Dartmouth Green Commute, another addition to our already robust transportation management program.
The site provides information on different ways to commute to Dartmouth campus and incentive programs such as free parking for carpoolers, free shower pass for those who bike or walk to campus etc. to encourage healthier transit among students, staff and faculty. It has a mobile-friendly interface equipped with social media widgets such as Twitter, Facebook, weather widget, and the new campus map to allow Dartmouth members to look up information right at their fingertips during transit.
