HOUSE PROFESSOR: NAABORKO SACKEYFIO-LENOCH

Naaborko Sackeyfio-Lenoch is Associate Professor of African History at Dartmouth College. She specializes in 20th century African history with a focus on Ghana and West Africa.  She is author of The Politics of Chieftaincy:  Authority and Property in Colonial Ghana:  1920-1950 (University of Rochester Press/Boydell and Brewer, 2014). Her work has appeared in edited collections along with articles in several journals including the International Journal of African History Studies, History in Africa, International Review of Social History and the Journal of West African History.  Questions of decolonization, African internationalism, post-independence nationhood, and transnational/global cultural projects animate her current work. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR:

My name is Jodi Blackburn and I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you. I am originally from Maryland. I lived in Boston for a number of years, but am now returning to the New England area with my husband, Ted, and a beloved dog named Blue. We have two grown children who now live in Boston and New York City. I am excited to be in a community that promotes intellectual engagement, community, and continuity, and I look forward to working with you to create opportunities for enhanced social ties and shared experiences.
As an Assistant Director of West House, I understand the important role that we play in the lives of the students in our community. West House is a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff that come together to share perspectives, learn, and grow.  I am committed to setting a positive example and helping others to achieve their goals. I believe that by working together, we can accomplish so much more than we could on our own.  I enjoy working with others to achieve a common goal. I believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute, and I am always open to hearing new ideas and suggestions.  I am always willing to listen to others and offer support and advice when needed. I believe that effective communication is key to building strong relationships and creating a thriving community.  I am committed to being a supportive and approachable resource for students, and to fostering a positive and inclusive living environment.

UNDERGRADUATE ADVISORS

STUDENT EXECUTIVE BOARD

Matt Jachim-Gallagher, Event Chair

I am from Newport NH which is about 35 minutes south from campus. I am a 25, and I plan on majoring in theater with a focus on stage management. Along with the West House Exec Board, I am also a part of the IHC (InterHouse Council) and the Planning Board. In both these groups we plan events for all campus to participate in and bond as a school. In my free time I like hanging out with my friends and exploring new parts of campus looking for cool study spots.

Abigail Smith, Design Chair

I’m an art history major from Macon, Georgia! On campus I am in Museum Club, I’m a Hood Museum intern, and the Arts editor for Dear Dartmouth. I am also in AXiD.

Sonu Shaik, Historian

I am a ’25 from Princeton, New Jersey. I am tentatively studying anthropology and biology, and I am especially interested in the intersection of the two fields. On campus, I am becoming involved with the Ledyard Canoe Club and Dartmouth Model United Nations, as well as the West House Executive Board. In my free time, I like to run, kayak, and bake all kinds of bread.
