CQB Travel Awards

The Center for Quantitative Biology (CQB) is pleased to offer travel awards*.

Purpose:
CQB Travel Awards are designed to provide an opportunity to present research, engage with other researchers, learn new methods, etc..

Eligibility:

  1. The applicant must be:
  • A senior PhD student (post-qualifying exam) or a post-doctoral fellow in a CQB member lab
  • Attending either a national or international level conference or course
  • Presenting their own work or be an accepted course participant

Award:
The award will cover up to $1200 to be used for registration, lodging, airfare, ground transportation, meals, or a combination thereof. Any expenses exceeding this amount must be covered by the student/postdoc’s PI or by other sources.

Application Details:

  • Nomination letter (less than one page)
  • Applicant’s CV
  • Conference or course Information
  • Official abstract of the material to be presented (or course acceptance letter)

Applicants are encouraged to apply at least 3 months in advance of the travel/event date via the online application.

Selection Process:
After the application is received, the director of CQB will evaluate the application, with committee input as needed. Recipients and their PIs will be notified via e-mail once a decision is reached.

Award Administration:
If funded, awardees must follow Dartmouth travel policies and procedures. Applicant will work with Jennifer Hebb to arrange for financial coverage of the travel. Please note that this will be a recurring award, so if a conference/course commences after June, the application will be kept for consideration during the next fiscal year.

Citation:
The Center for Quantitative Biology (CQB) is a supported Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) program through the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NIH and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) require that we acknowledge COBRE support in books, articles, abstracts and presentations that have benefited directly through COBRE support or indirectly through the use of COBRE resources such as CQB Cores.
