Congratulations Hartford – Supporting Transit!

The Town of Hartford recently received a municipal park and ride grant to construct a 48 vehicle parking lot on Route 5.  The lot will have bike racks and a bus shelter and is located near Hartford High School, adjacent to the Mobile Station and across from the cemetary (see the proposed site plan). It’s currently under a 40′ dirt pile which is part of the re-construction project.  The AT green route runs from Hartford Village through Wilder on Route 5 to Vail. It runs on the hour but I think the AT service planning recommendations include an increase in service to a bus every 30 minutes.  From this new Hartford park n’ ride to Hanover Inn is about 15 minute ride.

Vermont also funded an upgrade of the Huntley Meadows parking lot in Norwich – not currently served by transit & trees may be an issue.  The Randolph “Cadillac” park and ride at Exit 4  (84 spaces?) should be open by the end of the month.

Lyme is assessing a state-owned parcel that may be able to park a number of vehicles.  I understand the UVLSRPC is working with the town transportation committee.  The committee is also planning to conduct a town-wide transportation behavioral survey.  Peter, you probably have more details on this initiative.
