Title: Does the use of patient decision aids lead to cost savings? A systematic review
This systematic review is an update of a previous review to determine if patient decision aid interventions generate savings in healthcare settings, and if so, from which perspective (i.e. patient, an organization providing care, society). 22 studies met our inclusion criteria: 12 studies reported cost-savings (range=US$10 to US$81,156; US dollars in 2020), primarily from the organizational or health system perspective, and 10 studies did not. However, due to the quality of the economic analyses, and the related issues with interpretative validity of results it would be inappropriate to say that patient decision aids will generate savings, from any perspective.
