A recent publication, “Let-7b-5p in vesicles secreted by human airway cells reduces biofilm formation and increases antibiotic sensitivity of P. aeruginosa,” has attracted attention from BioCentury, an outlet that covers translational research for the biopharma industry. The publication outlines that a naturally occurring human microRNA (let-7b) has the potential to treat chronic lung infection, including those caused by antibiotic resistant strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and possibly other bacterial pathogens that currently shorten the lives of people with Cystic Fibrosis.
