Postdoc Research Day 2021

Dartmouth College Postdoc Association and University of New Hampshire Postdoc Association Present:

Postdoc Research Week 2021

January 25-29, 2021

Virtual event

This year's virtual events will be hosted by our postdoc colleagues at UNH.

Update from UNH Postdoc Association (1/23/2021):

Passing along an updated schedule for the UNH Dartmouth Postdoctoral Research Extravaganza. Unfortunately, abstract submission was very low for the research presentation sessions. I suspect that this reflects bandwidth overload and fatigue. Definitely do not want to create more work or burden. As a result these sessions have been cancelled and removed from the agenda.

But please do consider registering for the professional development sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. Registration will remain open for these sessions.

Agenda, registration and abstract submission information below.

This year's research extravaganza will have the theme My Research in the Time of… For participants signing up for oral presentations (there are three sessions) we ask that you connect your research and presentation to one of the four themes described below. Themes are intended to promote creative and fun thinking and to find unique connections among disciplinary topics. You are encouraged to think broadly and connect to themes in what ever ways you find meaningful. You can select your theme using the registration and abstract links below. You are also welcome to use other media other than PowerPoint to share your research. Play the guitar? Ever tried to turn your research into a work of poetry? Can you summarize your work using a box of crayons? We encourage you to have fun.

We also encourage participants to use talks and resources that are already developed. For example, please feel free to recycle (or slightly amend) previous talks. Participants should also feel free to share other resources including such things as blog posts and outreach efforts.

  1. My Research in the Time of Flying Cars
  2. My Research in the Time of Pangea
  3. My Research in the Time of the Gold Rush
  4. My Research in the Time of the World Cup

Professional development and collaborative opportunities are also available throughout the week including speed collaborating sessions, opportunities to talk with Deans and other professionals about those “soft” skills that matter in the research and professional world, and sessions focused on managing an expanding research portfolio, and effective and efficient writing techniques.
