How to Decorate the Sauna you Live in

As temperatures in your dorm continue to rise, even at night, with no air conditioner, we’re here to answer the question on everyone’s minds: how can you decorate your room accordingly?

1-2 hours a day in a sauna can help relax muscles, detoxify skin, and even help you lose weight. Maybe 24 hours a day will do even more! Most home saunas mimic a traditional scandinavian style. A Finnish Fjord scoop can sprinkle water along the sunlit part of your room to create relaxing puffs of steam.

To compliment the natural wood in your dorm and maintain a detoxifying sauna atmosphere, stick to neutral colors. Eucalyptus and Cedar are traditional Sauna favorites, but the carpet in many Dartmouth dorms allows you to feel like you are walking on small, unusual plants.

Consider adding live plants to your sauna for a pop of color. Even though it may feel like the heat will kill any living creature that comes into your dorm.

Luckily for Dartmouth students, a sauna only needs about 25 square feet of space, so saunas will fit in some rooms. Infrared lamps have gained popularity in home saunas since 2007.  Buy an infrared lamp to see if that, combined with the heat of the sun, can light your homework on fire.

Towels are an option, but feel free to leave your sweat on every surface for a sticky, natural ambience
