With help of the 317 team, both ground-based and satellite data will be dug through to use our lab’s GEMINI modeling capabilties to simulate various auroral arc systems. In doing this, our ultimate hope is to be able to “read the aurora” from ground-based imagery alone.
Plasma flow driven GEMINI output with input from Isinglass and Digital All-Sky Camera data using track replication methods. Current flux tubes are colored for distinction purposes and start/end at solid black/blue curves. The red and orange flux tubes run in reverse as they are sourced in the precipitation current sheet where electrical current points upwards.
