The Project for Calligraphy and Manuscript Culture at Dartmouth College is sponsoring a multi-year student-faculty project to transcribe and translate Mao’s commentary manuscripts in his stylistic calligraphy written on the margins of the 850 volumes of China’s official Twenty-four Histories 毛泽东评点二十四史. As one of the most influential art critics and art historians, Prof. Chen Chuanxi 陈传席, Chair Professor of Renmin University of China, will comment on Mao’s calligraphy and manuscript art thus provide a critical context for the Twenty-Four Histories project at Dartmouth.

Chinese Calligraphy and Manuscript Art Exhibition Concluded Today
After an extension of three weeks, the exhibition of Chinese Calligraphy and Manuscript Art concluded today. It has been a very exciting and rewarding experience, and we have received much positive feedback. At this moment, we would like to thank our Dartmouth students–your enthusiasm and participation made the success of this exhibit possible.
Below are selected students’ works from the exhibition:
(Left) “The Heaven and Earth are black and yellow” (oracle bone, small seal and standard scripts), by Roanna Y. Wang ’13
(Right) “Take things as they come” (standard script), by Kameko R. Winborn ’14
延期三周之后,历时四个半月的 “中国书法与手稿艺术”书法展览于今天结束。在此,特别感谢达大学生的热情支持与参与。现选刊学生书作两件:左为2013届王以玫、右为2014届文西悦的作品。
