We’ve heard the same mantra from our parents, our teachers, and even our friends for years: “Where do you see yourself in a few years?”, “What’s your plan?”, “Do you even know what you’re doing?” These questions can be daunting, and for many of us, our initial reaction is to either ignore the question or to divert the attention away from ourselves. But how important is having a detailed plan really to the college experience?

The holiday season is finally here; and I must say, this has always been my favorite time of year. No matter your culture or the set of beliefs you follow, this is a great time to realign with family, friends, and everyone that you truly care about. Of course, once all of the festivities are over, it’s time to look forward to the new year. And with plans to watch the ball drop and sip champagne, many of us also decide to write out our New Year’s Resolutions. I have to say, one of my favorite things about Dartmouth is the D-Plan system. I was never a huge fan of the long summer break that most schools have, and I would always end up getting really bored after the first month and a half.
