An item is declared missing if it is not found on the shelf where it belongs and it is not checked out.
- First check the catalog record to make sure the patron hasn’t confused the location of the item with another library. Location should be Paddock.
- Also check to see that the status is “available“.
- Check the item type – is it a score, mini-score, CD or other item type.
- Go to the shelf where the item belongs and check further. On occasion a patron may be looking in the wrong area.
- If it is indeed missing offer the patron the option of using Borrow Direct or DartDoc to find what they need.
- Leave a note for the circulation supervisor with your name, the information about the item (call number, title, & author) and patron (name & email address) and let the patron know the supervisor will get back to them as soon as possible.
