HELP DESIGN THE OFFICIAL WEST HOUSE INSIGNIA!

(Please note the deadline for input is tomorrow, April 10 so if you have ideas please send them along as soon as you can.)
The time has come for the College to design a set of six official insignia to represent all the House Communities staring this fall. Towards this end, the West House Executive Board has begun accepting prototypes for the official West House Insignia – please send email to Ryan.C.Hickox@dartmouth.edu with the subject line “West House Insignia Ideas” and it will be passed to the Exec. Your submission can be a complete design or a sketch of a concept: feel free to use words where your artistic skills come up a bit short. Ideas that were submitted during the open call for input last spring have already been passed to the Executive Board and will be considered fully as part of this process.

The House Executive Board will review your submissions and create a portfolio containing the most promising ideas. This portfolio will be used as a starting point and inspiration for a professional design team charged with developing a coherent set of six insignia for the HouseCommunities. To help guide your creative process, please see this document with a few basic guidelines for the House Insignia plus some samples from other institutions. Please submit your ideas by Monday, April 10.

One final note, if you happen to like the design concept behind our interim “elm tree” insignia representing the majestic tree between Fahey and Russell Sage – please let us know that too! One possibility is that our official insignia could build on this idea.

BAKER-BERRY LIBRARY EXHIBIT ON HOUSE COMMUNITIES

For next academic year, Dartmouth Libraries (led in part by our West House Librarian, Laura Barrett) will be hosting an exhibit in Baker-Berry called “House Communities at Dartmouth: The First Year”. HELP DESIGN THE OFFICIAL WEST HOUSE INSIGNIA!

For next academic year, Dartmouth Libraries (led in part by our West House Library Liaison, Laura Barrett) will be hosting an exhibit in Baker-Berry called “House Communities at Dartmouth: The First Year”. West House will have our own case and the opportunity to highlight all the activities and growth of community that we’ve had in this inaugural year. We are looking for students to join our House Historian, Alexis Colbert ’19, in curating and developing the exhibit.

There will be a kickoff meeting on Wednesday, April 5 in the Rauner Library Bryant Room from 3:30 to 5pm. Come represent West House, and learn about creating compelling exhibits, gathering oral histories, and digital archiving.

West House has available free tickets for House members to attend world-class performances at the Hopkins Center each term. A full list of shows for Spring term is available here. If you’d like tickets, please contact Pamela at Pamela.K.Duffy@dartmouth.edu
