Summary: Landing on the same boat, two people come to Brazil at the turn of the century. Esther is a Polish Jew coming to meet her fiancé. When he is a no-show, she has to become a prostitute in order to survive. Oswaldo is a young scientist who will work for the Dept. of Health. Both become involved in the “Vaccine Rebellion” of 1904.
